This policy explains how What the Bucket Brought (the game), for Android and iPhone, published by Big Bubba Productions LLC ("we", "us"), handles information. Big Bubba Productions LLC is responsible for the game (the "controller" under European data protection law). The game is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. This policy is published at https://www.bigbubbaproductions.com/privacy-policy/what-the-bucket-brought; our other games' policies are listed at https://www.bigbubbaproductions.com/privacy-policy.
We do not collect your personal information ourselves. The game has no accounts, no sign-in, no chat, no in-app purchases and no analytics of our own, and we don't sell your information to anyone ourselves. Some US state laws may treat the ad data Google's software collects in the game as a "sale" or "sharing"; see US state privacy laws below to opt out.
The game shows ads from Google AdMob. A full-screen ad may appear after a run ends (never while a run is being played, and not in your first twenty minutes of play), and you can choose to watch an optional ad for a bonus that is stated on the button before you tap. To show and measure those ads, Google's ads software in the game collects certain information, as described below.
You are in control. Where the law requires it, the game asks for your consent before ads use your information, and where your region requires it you can change your choices at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
Younger players see no ads. The game checks the age information your app store provides, where available. If it says you are under 18, or that your age still has to be verified, the game shows no ads and Google's ads and consent software doesn't start.
No tracking prompt on iPhone. The game never asks to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Your progress stays on your device.
To let you continue where you left off, the game stores the following in its private app storage on your device:
Saved progress: for example your upgrades, the curios you have found and mastered, your workers and wells, your deepest dive and your best run, plus a backup copy in case the main copy is damaged.
Settings: sound on or off, music and effects volume, vibration and reduced motion.
Your privacy choices: Google's consent software stores the choices you make in its consent message on your device, so it does not ask you again every time, and Google's ads software follows them when it requests ads.
We never receive any of this information.
Device backups and moving to a new phone. Backups are a feature of your device's operating system, run under your own account settings, and we never receive them.
Android: if you have turned on backup, Android may include the game's save and settings file in your Google backup or copy it to a new phone. Only that file is included: ad data and your consent choices are not, so the game asks for your choices again on a new device.
iPhone: the game keeps its save and settings in the app's own settings storage, which iOS includes in your iCloud or computer backups and when you transfer to a new iPhone. That storage may also hold the choices you made in Google's consent message.
Some laws (for example in Texas) require app stores to check their users' ages, and require apps to use the age information the store provides. Each time you open the game, it asks your app store for it:
Android: the game uses Google Play's age signals. Google Play may ask you whether to share your age range with the game, and you can decline.
iPhone (iOS 26.2 and later): only where Apple says the law of your region requires it, the game uses Apple's Declared Age Range feature, and iOS asks whether to share your age range with the game.
The game receives only an age range (for example "13 to 15" or "18 and over"), or the fact that none is shared, and uses it for one thing: if the store says you are under 18, or that your age still has to be verified, or doesn't answer in time, the game shows no ads during that session. Google's ads and consent software then doesn't start, so the game sends nothing to Google. The age range stays in the game's memory while it runs. It is not saved on your device, not sent to us or anyone else, and not used for advertising, profiling or analytics.
The game uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to show full-screen ads after a run ends and optional rewarded ads, and Google's User Messaging Platform to ask for and store your privacy choices.
What Google may collect when the ads SDK runs in the game:
Device and other identifiers: on Android, the Advertising ID and the App set ID; on iPhone, identifiers limited to the app or its developer, such as the identifier for vendors (IDFV). Because the game never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, the iPhone advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to the ads SDK.
Approximate location: derived from your IP address (not GPS or precise location).
App and ad interactions: for example app launches, ads you have seen, taps and video views.
Diagnostics: information about the performance of the app and the ads SDK, such as launch time, hang rate and crash logs.
Device information: such as device model, operating system version, language and app version.
On Android, where supported, Google's SDK may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox features to select and measure ads. On iPhone, it may use Apple's SKAdNetwork, which lets an ad network learn that an ad led to an app install without identifying you.
Who it is shared with: this information is collected by and shared with Google as our advertising provider. Where personalised ads are permitted (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only if you consent; elsewhere unless you opt out in Settings → Privacy choices, where offered, or in your device's settings), Google may also work with its certified advertising partners to select and measure ads, under Google's policies. We do not share information with anyone else.
Why: to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and, where permitted as described above, show personalised ads. Google uses this information under its own privacy policy:
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
How Google uses cookies and identifiers in advertising: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
When: the ads SDK starts only after the age check described above and the consent step described below. Full-screen ads appear only after a run has ended, and an optional rewarded ad plays only when you tap a button that states its bonus. The SDK may load ads in the background so they are ready when needed.
Ad content: the game asks Google for ads suitable for teens and older (maximum ad content rating "T"), and does not ask for child-directed ads, because the game is intended for players aged 16 and over. Players their app store says are under 18 see no ads at all (see Age information from your app store).
Our role: we do not receive or store the identifiers above. We receive only aggregated reports from AdMob (for example the total number of ads shown and earnings).
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland): storing and reading information on your device for ads, and personalised ads, rely on your consent, which you give or refuse in Google's consent message. Non-personalised ads, frequency limits, ad measurement and fraud prevention rely on legitimate interests (keeping the game free and its ads safe), only to the extent your choices in that message allow. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy choices; this does not affect processing that happened before.
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): on first launch, the game shows Google's consent message, where you can accept, reject or choose how your data is used for advertising. If you do not consent, ads may be limited or non-personalised, and optional rewarded ads may be unavailable. The game still works fully.
US state privacy laws: where applicable (for example in California), Google's message and Settings → Privacy choices let you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising.
Change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy choices (shown where your region requires it).
Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of ads personalisation in your device's settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads; wording varies by device).
iPhone: the game never asks to track you, so the IDFA stays unavailable to it. You can also turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Google's ad settings: if you are signed in to a Google account, you can manage ad personalisation at https://myadcenter.google.com.
Optional ads: rewarded ads are always optional. You can play the whole game without watching them.
Play offline: the game works without an internet connection. Without one, no ads are requested.
Uninstall: uninstalling the game deletes its data from your device (copies in your own device backups follow your backup settings).
On Android, the game uses these permissions, which are granted at install without asking: internet and network state (only for ads and the consent message), the Advertising ID permission (for the ads SDK) and vibration for haptic feedback (you can turn vibration off in the game's settings). The ads SDK also declares Android's standard ad-measurement (ad services) and background-work permissions. On iPhone, the game asks for no permissions. The game does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files, phone or accounts, and it never asks for those permissions.
The game's Settings → Report an ad shows our email address and can open your own email app; nothing is sent unless you send it. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write (for example a screenshot and the game version). We use it only to answer you and to get problem ads blocked, and keep it only as long as needed for that and for our ordinary business records.
What the Bucket Brought is intended for players aged 16 and over. It is not directed to children, and its ads are not child-directed. If your app store tells the game you are under 18, the game shows no ads and its ads software does not run (see Age information from your app store). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game and information about them was collected for ads, contact us and we will work with Google to address it.
On your device: your save and settings stay until you clear the game's storage or uninstall the game.
Google: keeps ad-related data according to its own policies (see the links above).
Us: we keep no personal information about players. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to answer it and for our ordinary business records.
Your save and settings are kept in the game's private app storage, which the operating system protects from other apps. Information sent by the ads SDK is encrypted in transit (TLS). The game communicates only with Google's ad and consent services and, for the age information above, your app store; its own content is stored in the app.
Google may process advertising data in countries other than yours, including the United States, where we are based, under the safeguards described in Google's own terms and privacy policy.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe and the UK, or state privacy laws in the United States), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to receive it in a portable format, to object (including to personalised advertising), and to withdraw consent. Personalised ads involve profiling by Google; it has no legal or similarly significant effect on you. Because we do not hold personal information about players, most requests are best handled directly by Google (see the links above) and through Settings → Privacy choices. You can also contact us and we will help. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
US state privacy laws (for example California): in the last 12 months, the ads software in the game has collected these categories of personal information, all directly from your device: identifiers (device and advertising identifiers, IP address), internet or other electronic network activity (how you interact with ads) and approximate geolocation (derived from the IP address). They are used for the purposes described above and disclosed to Google as our advertising provider (and, where personalised ads are permitted, to Google's certified advertising partners). We do not collect sensitive personal information. Where a state law treats letting Google use this information for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "sharing", you can opt out in Settings → Privacy choices or in Google's message, and you can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings. You also have the rights to know, access, correct and delete described above. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16: if your app store tells the game you are under 18, the ads software does not run. You may make a request yourself or through an authorized agent by emailing us; we may ask an agent for your signed permission. Because we hold no personal information about players, we will help you direct requests to Google. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the game or on its store page. If a future version of What the Bucket Brought changes how it handles information (for example new ad formats, online features or purchases), we will update this policy before that version is released.
